Description
An illustration for an exhibit at the BYU Paleontology Museum. Total time ~4.5 hrs
Prognathodon ("fore-jaw tooth") was a Mosasaur [link] a distant dinosaur relative, that lived in the Late Cretaceous. He was about 35 feet long and had a double-hinged jaw that could open extra wide (in case of the *ahem* event that there was ANYTHING a 35-FOOT LONG sea-lizard couldn't fit its mouth around heh). In addition, Prognathodon has a whole extra set of teeth next to its throat like a modern python [link] which means that once you're in the mouth you might as well fill out a change of address form, because you ain't goin nowhere.

They are actually closer to monitor lizards than dinosaurs. Awesome piece though!
